It is a difficult job to be a student leader. We receive no allowance, most of the time no thanks you's and yet the general assembly still manages to find faults from us. It is true that we subject ourselves into stress, and a lot of pressure. Being an officer entails a lot of responsibilities that you do not have total control of. If something goes wrong you cannot point fingers to anyone. Because the bottomline is you do not employ them. It also requires one to be always on the move because people expect to much from you. And the fact that you are a public figure and you must bear it. As they say everything comes in a package. As soon as you accepted the benefits, you must also acknowledge with open arms all the tasks attached to it.
Taking on responsibility is interpreted differently by different people. Some take is seriously, and others laugh at it. While others take a deep breath in the face of glitches and forges ahead, disregarding the blood that may run ahead after the impact in the form grades.
In my college life, what i have learned is that Leaders do not develop by themeselves. Leadership is void if he is alone. As what they say, that leaders were also vulnerable, they need people as how much people need them. The student-leaders we have are for free. A little support, a whisper of thank you and on time payment of assesment could help a lot. Yes, you also help in leader building.
But amidst all these, I am very much happy that I have accepted this responsibilty. It's true that my mind, body and soul experienced too much stress and pain in this college life. But those sleepless, worry freak nights which would run for weeks, had helped me see my role in the society. That is to contribute for the well-being of the society.
